Our mission

QU Birdhunter is Queen’s University’s oldest, largest, and most trusted course selection tool. We provide accurate course information including grade distribution for courses at Queen’s University. Our mission is to provide students with the information to select the best courses for them every single time.

In other words, our mission is to eliminate the: scratching your head the day before a midterm thinking, “why the heck did I take this course? It’s so boring I have no idea what I’m doing I should have used my personal interest credit or taken the 101 version…” you get the idea.

Made with love by Queen’s students, for Queen’s students <3

Who are we?

We are a group of Queen’s and QTMA students from different programs who want to make course selection easier and better for everyone. We’ve been through the process and we know how frustrating and stressful trying to enroll in courses at 8:10 AM can be.

We hope to provide a more seamless course selection experience and resourceful tool that will best help students during course selection. We would also like to acknowledge the support from our community, for their willingness to share their grade distributions that contribute to our platform.

Queen’s Tech and Media Association (QTMA) is Canada’s premier product development club and tech incubator. Over the course of the year, four multi-disciplinary teams of eight students from Commerce Science and Engineering compete to build and launch the best software product. Within QTMA, seven members have worked collectively to maintain and improve the QU Birdhunter web service for the students in the Queen’s community.

History of QU Birdhunter

QU Birdhunter was founded by 2 Queen’s students in 2015. They were frustrated by the lack of transparency in course selection and the lack of grade distribution information. The founders built QU Birdhunter into the widely-used tool it is today, and decided to move on to other projects in 2021. The founders asked the Queen’s Technology and Media Association (QTMA), a club at Queen’s University, to take over to continue to serve Queen’s students and further QU Birdhunter’s vision.

Disclaimer: QU Birdhunter is not affiliated with Queen’s University.
